An Unfortunate Night With Netflix

Lemony Snicket's A series of unfortunate events

Y’all it’s Winter Solstice today! I don’t know about you snow bunnies but I plan on spending tonight in my reindeer onesie folding laundry and watching Netflix.  Talking about Netflix, just a week ago I had an unfortunate night with Netflix hanging out with the cast of the upcoming Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (insert loud scream).  When I received the invitation and saw that actor Neil Patrick Harris was going to be there as well as other cast members and the author of the series Daniel Handler I was seriously excited. If you’re a long-time reader, you know we love books so we were excited for a night of reading.

It was a really cold New York City night so we got cozy and filled up our mugs at the hot chocolate bar before settling in to listen to the reading.

I’m a huge fan of Neil Patrick Harris and I know he is incredibly talented but it was fantastic to listen to him read holiday classics like T’was the Night before Christmas and How the Grinch stole Christmas bringing them to life. I can’t promise I wouldn’t try to copy him the next time I read to my kids class.

Right after we listened to the readings the cast did a special script reading which was live streamed on Netflix’s Facebook page, check out the video below. You can spot me in the room smiling extra bright if you look closely. If you follow my Instagram stories, I shared a few snippets from the reading there as well.

We also had the opportunity to take a sneak peak at the show which you can check out here.

Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket was nice enough to give the kids a signed copy of the book so now we’re going to have to get the collections. I know there is mystery around him since he usually doesn’t show his face but he has a wonderful sense of humor and is great with kids. Just the way I would imagine a children’s book author to be in real life.

One the next Black Friday (January 13, 2017) the series will be released on Netflix. You will find The Princess Fairy and I cuddled under a blanket with caramel popcorn watching together. Maybe we would recreate the hot chocolate bar, or maybe not. I’ll keep you moms updated!
