Wow, it was a long and really wonderful Memorial Day weekend for us! Those of you who follow me on Snapchat already know that we barely stayed in the house. The weather was beautiful here in New York City and we took advantage by getting out every single day. Anyway, we managed to pull off red, white and blue in a non-tacky way that I thought I should share with you if you’re planning to take summer family photos or need a July 4th outfit. First, I wanted to share a few tips on coordinating outfits. I’ve seen this gone wrong many times.
Tips for coordinating Red, White and Blue:
Let personalities shine through.
An outfit should tell the story of who someone is. If they hate the color or style they’re wearing it wouldn’t work. My daughter feels most beautiful in dresses so I made sure to get her a pretty dress that she could be The Princess Fairy and twirl as much as she wants.
Different Shades.
Everything doesn’t have to match perfectly. You don’t all have to wear the same shirt, or find the exact same shade of a color. The variations of the shades will act depth to your coordinated outfits and prevent it from looking like a uniform.
Keep it subtle.
Your look doesn’t haver to scream Patriotic or look like you’re the flag. Keep it subtle and it will have a bigger impact.
