Outfit Ideas for New Moms

In my fashion tips for new moms video I promised to put together some looks for new moms. Here are a few outfit ideas for new moms to survive the period after delivery until pre-pregnancy clothes fits again.

Wear Loose blouses/tops with fitted pants/jeans.

This creates balance. Two loose pieces paired together makes you appear much wider. Skinny jeans are great but make sure they are not too tight so you’re comfortable. Some women continue to wear their maternity jeans through the transition period.

Tip: Diaper bags with fun patterns like this snake skin print one are great conversational pieces that will take the attention away from your body.

Add a Cute Vest to Hide Tummy.
One great piece to pair with  your favorite clothing that fits is a vest. This will allow you to wear whatever you want while hiding your tummy. Stick to styles with structure like this Motorcycle Vest. A long skirt is comfortable and will  give you a covered feeling but keep you looking together. If you enjoy wearing heels, stick to a thick stacked heel like this boot which gives lots of support. If you’re not able to carry both diaper bag and your personal handbag opt for this incognito diaper bag.

Scarves make great distraction.
An infinity nursing scarf is functional and effective at attracting attention away from your midsection. Pair with a shift dress or sweater dress with riding boots for a comfortable yet cute look.

Blazers, blazers and more blazers.
Blazers paired with just about anything allows you to feel covered while looking chic. Great for dressing up a nursing tank with distressed jeans. Aim for styles that hit around you hip bone to get enough coverage and balance.

  • Scarves are a great idea, especially in the winter. These are great outfit ideas. I’m 15 months post-baby after having twins (still not lookin’ so great :-/) and these tops are perfect!
