Do you trust your instincts?
Recently, I shared on Instagram that The Princess Fairy learned how to ride her bicycle without her training wheels. She’s been riding ever since and getting more confident with every ride. Seeing her ride her bike for the very first time made me a bit emotional, I remember coming home from the hospital with her almost 7 years ago with no clue what I should and would do. I remember just taking things one minute, one hour, one day at a time. Sure, I read books, blogs and spoke with friends but in retrospect, I realize that what I’ve relied on my instincts more than anything else while caring for her and then her brother. As mothers, we know what’s right for our children and the best we can do for them is to feel confident that we will be guided instinctively to do just that.
Motherhood is sometimes like going to the movies, I’ve watched my children roll over, crawl, walk, talk, and the list goes on and on. They’re still growing and meeting milestones so I am constantly watching in awe as I assisted them to get to the next step. It’s mind blowing but I know that I’ve only been able to come this far on this very tough journey because I am confident that my instincts would never let me down.
All this to say if you’re a new mom or pregnant believe and know that you have everything you need to be a wonderful mother for YOUR child. You will figure it out, you will learn, you will take it slowly and embrace all that you didn’t expect but also take the time to feel the joy. Motherhood wouldn’t break you but strengthen you and your self-confidence. Your instincts will let you know what your child needs every step of the way, listen to it. You are a mom, you were created to do this. You don’t need anything but your instincts.
